With the integration into the Active Directory Services of Microsoft, the user accounts and groups of the Active Directory can be imported in CAS genesisWorld.
Both Windows groups and organizational units can be imported or synchronized as CAS genesisWorld groups with the corresponding user accounts as members. You can also transfer hierarchical groups from Windows. But you cannot display the corresponding hierarchy in CAS genesisWorld.
We recommend you either import organizational units or Windows groups to avoid duplicating groups.
When importing the username, description and e-mail address are transferred. You can change the username in CAS genesisWorld.
A name which has been changed can be retained even after a subsequent synchronization between the Active Directory and CAS genesisWorld.
You define the authentication of new user accounts and logging on to CAS genesisWorld using identical functions when; importing user accounts, when mapping an individual user account and when synchronizing.
An import can take some time depending on the volume of data being imported.
In the User folder select More options drop-down list from the toolbar and then Import Windows users.
The Select Windows user window will open. In the Windows Groups/Users list on the left-hand side, you will see a tree structure with organizational units, Windows groups and the associated user accounts from the Active Directory, or rather, all user accounts and groups for the set domain.
In the list on the right, Import, you will see the user accounts and groups which are to be imported.
From the list on the left, select the units you want to import. Click the arrow that points to the right to move these items to the list on the right.
If you have selected an organizational unit or a Windows group from the left list and you want to move it to the right, you will see the corresponding CAS genesisWorld group and also the corresponding members of the group in the right list.
If you move all members of a group that has been moved to the right back to the left-hand side, you will import an empty group. You can then assign any member to this group in the Management Console.
New groups or user accounts have read only rights in CAS genesisWorld, you can change these rights later if you wish.
The Windows group ABC comprises the users A, B and C and is displayed on the left-hand side of the list. Move this Windows group from the left to the right-hand list.
After you have moved the Windows group, you will see the group ABC and the participants A, B and C.
Now, move participant A back to the left side.
This means that only group ABC and participants B and C are imported. After it has been imported, group ABC will only contain participants B and C, but not participant A.
