Importing companies, contact persons and individual contacts
In CAS genesisWorld there are three types of addresses: companies and associated contact persons and individual contacts.
If your addresses contain both companies and contact persons, see which one of these two procedures is best for you.
First option
- Create a CSV file that only contains your company addresses.
- Import these addresses into CAS genesisWorld as company addresses
- Import all the other addresses as individual contacts in a separate CSV file.
Individual contacts can easily be transformed into contact persons associated with a company. This is done by transforming address types. in the Desktop Client.
Second option
If you want to import a large number of addresses, you can also assign the contact persons and companies in the CSV file.
- Add the following fields to the CSV file: gwiscompany, gwiscontact and Key.
- For the addresses that you want to import as companies, set gwiscontact to 0 and gwiscompany to 1.
- For the addresses you want to import as contact persons, set gwiscontact to 1 and gwiscompany to 0.
- Assign the same value in the Key field for all contact persons of a company and for the actual company itself.
- In the Assign columns to, do not assign any values to the fields gwiscontact, gwiscompany and Key.
