DOCX or DOTX?

You use either a DOCX or a DOTX file for a document data record template with an archive file. In the CAS genesisWorld functions there is no difference.

 You will be able to tell whether a template is a DOTX or a DOCX file by the icon. DOTX file icons have a yellow bar at the top.

However, if you wish to use specific Microsoft Word functions for document templates, then we recommend you use DOCX files in CAS genesisWorld for document data records.

• In which case you can save DOTX files to a protected folder centrally on your network. DOCX files from CAS genesisWorld can then be based on a centrally stored DOTX file. Then you can update format templates in Microsoft Word and new document data records in CAS genesisWorld can be based on this central DOTX file.
• Alternatively, company wide DOTX files can be configured in Microsoft Word so that the whole company can only access them from a central folder with DOTX files. Then users can create a new Microsoft Word file using a central document template from Microsoft Word outside of CAS genesisWorld.

Microsoft Word allows either a temporary or permanent connection from a DOCX to a DOTX file. This connection is, however, not possible for archive files in the CAS genesisWorld document archive.
