Using input help options

Below are the different types of input help:

• A Single selection list offers a list from which users can select one single entry.
• A Single selection list with input option offers a list from which users can select a single entry. If none of the items listed are suitable, you can type text into the text field available.
• A checkbox list opens a window in which users can select one or more input help options. Several items are separated by commas.
• A checkbox list lets users select one or more items. Additionally, users have the option of entering text. Several items are separated by commas.
• A selection tree offers a tree structure with which you can select a number of items in a specific order. Each item in this hierarchical structure can be a single selection list or a checkbox list.

Examples of a selection tree include parent entries with customers, prospects or suppliers. For customers the child entries A, B, C are available and for prospects the products F, G and H.

This function is only available in the Premium Edition.

If a selection tree is opened for a data record field, the branches with values will automatically expand. The other branches remain closed until they are expanded.

In the Management Console, your administrator defines what type of input help is available for specific fields and what the input help options are.

Input help for the Type and Status fields

Type and Status are drop-down lists, in which you can select an entry from a list by means of input help. These fields are only available in the Premium Edition.

• The values suggested and displayed in the Status drop-down list are automatically determined by the value you select from the Type drop-down list, and as such regarded as suitable responses to the Type field value.
• Selecting an input value in the Type field can trigger a variety of functions.
• Data records can be completed consistently using the input help options for the fields and with the help of various other functions too. In addition, the exact information required is available in the data record.

Your administrator defines the input help options for type and status as well as the functions which depend on them.

Group-specific input help

Different input help options are available for users from different groups, for example, from different departments.

International input help options

Users can work with the same Application Server when using international input help options in different languages. Each user receives the entries in the respective fields in the language in which they have logged on to CAS genesisWorld. This is possible, because input help options can be pre-specified by your administrator in multiple languages.

International input help options are available for all input helps without input options. That is, for all input helps of the following types: Single selection lists, Checkbox lists, or Selection trees.

Input helps with input options cannot be used for international input help as individual entries cannot be automatically translated. Individual entries are only displayed in the language in which they have been entered and cannot be used for international input helps.
