Internet protocol settings window

The settings in the Internet protocol settings window are specific to the internet protocol and should only be changed by experienced users or the administrator. You can activate detailed logs here, for example, if you wish to investigate connection problems.

You can find and access the Internet protocol settings in two locations.

• In the e-mail account wizard on the Server information for the e-mail account page by clicking the Other settings button.
• In the properties of an e-mail account on the E-mail server information tab by clicking the Other settings button.

Incoming mail server

• In the Encryption protocol field, you can select a version for the encryption type that has been defined in the Server information for the e-mail account.
• Timeout (Sec) defines the maximum waiting time for all actions on the IMAP4 account.

Such actions include, for example, the logon process, accessing e-mails, create actions by the e-mail server, or moving e-mails into new folders.

• If you activate the Start account in online mode option, e-mails are loaded from the incoming mail server when CAS genesisWorld is started.

If you deactivate this option, you need to update your inbox yourself.

Outgoing mail server

• The Encryption protocol settings here refer to the outgoing mail server.
• Timeout (Sec) defines the maximum time the outgoing mail server will wait when sending.
• Coding and Character set are usually language-dependent and define how non-ASCII characters are transferred to or coded for the Internet.
• You can request a notice of receipt from the recipient of each e-mail that has been sent using the e-mail account.

With some e-mail servers, it may not be possible to request a notification on received messages.

CAS genesisWorld works with the DSN (Delivery Status Notification) method via ESMTP. The e-mail server must support this method. Microsoft Exchange Server supports this method.

Creating protocols

For a later analysis of conflicts, rather detailed e-mail protocols are written. If a virus scanner is active, this might lead to a noticeable loss of performance. Thus, you can deactivate the recording of protocols. These options are not enabled after the installation.

The protocols can usually be found in the .. Temp\CAS genesisWorld\E-Mail\Errors folder of the Desktop Client.

You can open a protocol as soon as it is available by clicking the Display button.
