Define the fields and combination of fields you wish to display in the Search window and in the Fields to search in drop-down list.
All available fields for the selected data record type are listed on the left.
Fields for the (first) search term A search term is searched in the fields that are listed here.
If only one field is entered the search term is only searched for in this one field. If you have entered two or more fields, the search term is searched for in those two or more fields.
If you enter multiple fields for Fields for the ... search term, then all the fields have to be of the same Field type. In the left-hand pane of the window you will see both Field name and Field type displayed, for example, Character strings.
To apply a field as search field or to remove it, click on those buttons.
Expand >> This button displays two more boxes for search field names. In Fields for the second/third search term, you can define further search fields
Display in the drop-down list Here you see a preview of how the fields are displayed in the drop-down list of the Search window.
You want to search for Company and Town/City at the same time, in both company fields and in all three available Town/City fields.
Company + Company 2, Town+Town 2+Town 3 are displayed in Display in the drop-down list.
In the Search window, you can now enter first the company, and then a town (comma-separated). If you have selected Company+Company 2, Town+Town 2+Town 3, the program searches in the two company fields and in the three town fields simultaneously. The search is not influenced if you have, for example, entered the company's site or the warehouse location.
In this window, you can define a database query. If you enter more than one field into the Fields for the ... search term then these fields will be linked using the OR logical operator. Between two areas you will see the AND logical operator.
