E-mail/E-mail rules tab

Users can define rules for e-mails from e-mail accounts. The corresponding settings can be found in the Settings window in the following tabs:

You can also create a new rule by right-clicking on an e-mail in an e-mail list and selecting Create rule. The selected e-mail's parameters are then included in the new rule.

E-mails can be moved to certain folders via rules. If you rename a folder, do not forget to also change the rule. Otherwise, the rule will not be executed.

The CAS genesisWorld Application Server implements the rules. Thus, your rules are executed immediately, even if you are not present.

Please note

For the Application Server to be able to implement the rules, it must have access to the e-mail account. If the Application Server cannot access the Internet, for example, then it may not be able to access the e-mail account.

The e-mail account password must be saved. If not, then the system will not be able to automatically log on to the e-mail server.

The Application Server cannot access local folders, which is why it cannot execute rules with local folders.

Checking rules

When opening the e-mail client, the e-mail rules are checked for validity.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook as your e-mail client, then you can change, delete or move e-mail account folders in Microsoft Outlook. Afterwards, e-mail rules in this cases will no longer apply, a suitable message will be displayed informing you of this.

The validity of rules for moving e-mails is now also checked when e-mails are moved into a folder of another mailbox.

When deleting an e-mail account, any rules which have been set up for the account become invalid. Before deleting a check message will be displayed.

How to

Click New. The Create new rule window opens.

We do not recommend that you use a name in Reply to when setting up an e-mail account as this name can be used over and over in the e-mail client. And as a consequence, rules might not be carried out, or not consistently at least. Instead, you should select a unique e-mail address.

Archiving with a rule is only possible with an IMAP account.
