Input help options are defined in the Database area. You can define input help options for almost all fields. You can define input help options for new fields if the corresponding field is a number field or of the varchar data type.
Input help options for fields of the float data type can contain decimals.
You can create specific input help options for the Type and Status fields.
Below are the different types of input help:
Examples of a selection tree include parent entries with customers, prospects or suppliers. For customers the child entries A, B, C are available and for prospects the products F, G and H.
This function is only available in the Premium Edition.
If a selection tree is opened for a data record field, the branches with values will automatically expand. The other branches remain closed until they are expanded.
A System input help is used for certain CAS genesisWorld functions and cannot be changed. For example, the Country field is a multilingual system-input help field that contains the country names according to ISO 3166 for all the languages offered in the Standard Edition.
The name of the input help options must not contain commas, pipes ( | ), and no simple or double quotation marks ( ' and " ).
Furthermore, an input help option must not start or end with a space.
Each database field has a certain length. You must not exceed the maximum number of characters for a field by combining entries.
The Import of input help options, for example, from a test system, is equivalent to creating completely new input help options.
Select the Database area.
Click the Input help button. The Create/Edit input help options window opens.
In a single selection list and checkbox list, you can move the selected input help with the move up or move down arrow.
The sorting order of the input help options in the list is the same sorting order that users see in the drop-down list.
Click Group to open the Assign input help to groups window.
Different input help options are available for users from different groups, for example, from different departments.
Define for which user groups an input help is to be available.
On the right pane of the Manage input help options window, the Groups are displayed when you select an input help option.
Export/Import open the Windows file selection box.
Input help options are saved as FI2 files.
By clicking Sort, you sort the input help options by ascending or descending order.
If you select the Selection tree as Input help type, additional buttons are displayed.
New entry or New opens a window of the same name.
Entry available
/Entry not available indicates whether or not users can select the respective entry.
To mark entries as not available is only useful if they are related to a child entry: the parent entry cannot be selected, only the child entry can be selected, for example, the A entry for a customer. The parent entry is then also entered in the corresponding field.
You can only switch from Single selection/to
Checkbox list of the selected entry contains child entries.
Single selection or checkbox lists always show all the child entries of an entry.
In single selections, option fields are displayed both in the Management Console and to users so that only one entry can be selected.
In checkbox lists, the checkboxes are displayed both in the Management Console and to users so that more than one entry can be selected.
Expand/Hide complete tree displays or hides entries.
You can define the sorting displayed to users for all input helps. Any preset defaults defined by the administrator in the Management Console are used by all clients including teamWorks.
International input help options are sorted in ascending or descending order according to the language with which a user is logged on to CAS genesisWorld.
Users can work with the same Application Server when using international input help options in different languages. Each user receives the entries in the respective fields in the language in which they have logged on to CAS genesisWorld. This is possible, because input help options can be pre-specified by your administrator in multiple languages.
International input help options are available for all input helps without input options. That is, for all input helps of the following types: Single selection lists, Checkbox lists, or Selection trees.
Input helps with input options cannot be used for international input help as individual entries cannot be automatically translated. Individual entries are only displayed in the language in which they have been entered and cannot be used for international input helps.
In teamWorks, you can also assign international input help options and input help options for groups. If you have defined input help options for a field, the Input help selection list element will be available in forms.
The Languages area is displayed on the right pane of the window.
Select an input help option and click Change or double-click the input help option.
