Users can search with the SmartSearch function in the Desktop Client, in CAS genesisWorld Web and in the Mobile apps. Settings and Adminstrator defaults apply to every client.
Specific data record types and fields are searched by default. You can customize and extend the search with additional and/or own data record types and fields.
SmartSearch - default search in data record types and fields
By default the index is now saved in the ..\ProgramData folder. You will find a description of how to change this folder in the SDK documentation for CAS genesisWorld.
There are several functions available to further work with the search results in the Desktop Client, they cannot be customized at the moment. If you add further data record types to the SmartSearch, only the opening of the dossier is available as function.
You will find more information on how to use the SmartSearch and its functions for users in the respective online help pages for users.
The initial indexing process can take some time.
You will also have to make settings for SmartSearch in the Server Manager.
When deploying replication functions, you have to consider some additional aspects.
The SmartSearch is always executed by the application server which is entered here. This also applies if you deploy a number of application servers and users log on to several application servers.
You have to use an XML file to customize the SmartSearch, and also to extend the SmartSearch to include additional data record types and fields.
