When you create a new document, the Create document from window opens.
In the Create document from window, you can either select a document template or select a file from your computer.
On the Template tab, you can see the document template navigator on the left and all templates of the view you have chosen in the navigator on the right.
You will find standard templates of CAS genesisWorld in the view of the same name.
The document data record window opens with the selected template.
You can create templates for documents in the Create/Edit document or Document templates windows. These templates are then displayed in the Create document from window.
On the File tab, you select a file on your computer and transfer it as an archive file to a CAS genesisWorld document.
The Windows file selection box opens.
The file path is entered into the File field.
The application files are saved in a folder on your computer or your network, and are available without CAS genesisWorld. The data record window for the document contains a reference, i.e. the absolute file path, and allows starting the corresponding application.
The file can be opened and edited with or without CAS genesisWorld. Such a file might not be available for others if you have moved the file to another folder.
The files are saved to a special area of the database and are always available to users with sufficient rights. Due to a lock mechanism, a file cannot be edited by two users at the same time.
Only if you have saved a document in the Document Archive, all CAS genesisWorld functions are available.
In the options for the creation of documents, you select whether the new document is to be saved in the Document Archive, on your computer, or on a network drive.
The Settings for document storage window opens.
We recommend this setting, as all functions for editing documents in CAS genesisWorld are available in the Document Archive. Furthermore, those files are available to all users with the necessary rights.
If you select this setting, not all users may be able to access the file, for example, users who do not have the necessary access rights to the respective folder.
Activate Standard if you want to save the settings as default settings.
