Before exporting data from CAS genesisWorld a window - depending on the administrator's settings - opens in which you have to enter your password for CAS genesisWorld. This query has been implemented to ensure that your data in CAS genesisWorld is secure.
The entering of your password is also required if you have already opened CAS genesisWorld and you are logged in. The password you need to enter must be your CAS genesisWorld password, even if you otherwise log on with your CAS genesisWorld Windows user account.
You define the CAS genesisWorld password in the Settings window, in the General tab.
The functions for exporting data record are only available if you have been given the necessary rights from your administrator.
When Exporting to Excel a maximum of only 256 characters per field can be exported. In this case, data records are not exported from the database, but are exported from the displayed list view. In lists, only 256 characters per field are displayed, consequently only this maximum number of characters are then exported. If fields contain more text then the Export as CSV function is an alternative. The database data record are exported in the process.
If there are fields in the list that contain images, then the export can take some time. Contact data records contain photos this includes small icons such those found in the is company field. Do not allow such fields to be displayed in the list, unless of course, you really need them.
If the Notes field is displayed, then some special characters are denoted by quotation marks. Formatting and images are not transferred.
You will only be able carry out an export if Microsoft Excel is installed on your PC. If, for example, you use OpenOffice, but want to import and open Microsoft Excel files, then the export will not be possible.
Microsoft Excel opens and one or more selected data records are inserted into a table.
In the process, the fields which are displayed in the list are transferred.
The file selection box opens. The data record type will be entered as the file name.
