Duplicate check

In CAS genesisWorld every time you save a new or existing address, a duplicate check is performed automatically. During a duplicate check, specific fields from two or more addresses are compared with each other.

In the process, for example, the Company, Firstname, Lastname, Street, Postal code and City/Town fields are checked by the duplicate checker. For the fields you are comparing, a predefined threshold value has to exceed a percentage of agreement for the addresses to be considered duplicates.

The Found duplicates window opens if a duplicate is found. Without the necessary rights to merge duplicates, you can not create or change the address and need to ask a colleague with the necessary rights to do so for you.

With the necessary rights, you can merge the duplicated using the window functions.

A duplicate check is also available when importing addresses. You can merge duplicates directly after the import or later using the Merge duplicates function in the Tools menu of the program window. For this purpose, the same rights are required as for saving.

Important to know for modules

Duplicates may occur when working with several modules in CAS genesisWorld.

For more detailed information, please refer to the Working with several modules online help pages and search for Duplicates.

The Merge duplicates function is available in the Tools menu of the Desktop Client program window.

A duplicate check across all or certain addresses is possible with several CAS genesisWorld modules. For more detailed information about the modules, please refer to hilfe.cas.de.

Please note

In the Management Console, your administrator defines the settings for the threshold value for percentage of similarity, the fields which should be included and other settings.

To merge duplicates you require special rights. Your administrator issues rights for things like duplicate checking in the Management Console.

Please contact your administrator for more information.
