Field variables are variable elements in a document such as your name, a graphic file with your signature or your direct dial telephone number. Field variables are saved to the database.

You can insert these fields in Microsoft Word documents as CAS genesisWorld variables.

Default field variables can be used with the templates for letters or e-mail messages. You can create additional field variables.

The windows for creating and changing field variables share the same input fields.

Field variable is the name of the field variable.

Value is the content of the field variable, e.g. your name or extension number.

Type can be e.g. a text or a graphic.

Public: the administrator can set public field variables. A user can use but not change these variables. Public variables can be the company name or logo.

The Visibility column displays whether a variable is public or private.

• In letters such as form letters or mail merges the value for the private field variable is always entered if both a public and a private field variable of the same name exist.
