Search settings

On this tab, you define a keyboard shortcut and the fields you want to search in.

On Tools menu, click Settings.

The Search field area is displayed if SmartSearch is active.

• Enter opens Either the first SmartSearch hit or the Search window.

The following also applies, if First hit has been set and a link is entered via the search field.

A general link is always entered when using the enter key.

If multiple link types are possible, you will be able to select the link type using your mouse. Click the arrow on the right of the hit list and open the list of possible link types.

Settings changed in this area will only apply after CAS genesisWorld has been restarted.

• Open Search window only once this option displays the Search window which is already open by bringing it to the fore when you call the search function again. If the option has been deactivated, you can open the Search window multiple times.
• Displaying the Global search button: Using this function you can select whether you wish to display the Global search button on the program window toolbar.
• Using the Shortcut key you set, calls the Search window even if you are working in a program other than CAS genesisWorld.

Fields to search in

You can define the values for the Fields to search in drop-down list in the Search window yourself. If you have not defined any settings yourself, then the administrator settings will be used.

• Select the Data record type for which you want to define drop-down list entries.

  Data records combine various related information. Each data record can be identified easily by means of a key or name. The Maier address data record contains all information on the customer Maier, including first name, last name, postal address, and so on. The Software introduction product contains a unique number, a price, a description, and so on.

  Data record types are data records of a kind in CAS genesisWorld, for example, addresses, tasks, appointments, documents, and so on.

• You should activate the Classic search if you wish to search without using a full-text index.

This setting is only available if the administrator has activated the full-text index.

• Using the full-text search

• Click the Reset to default button to restore the administrator's settings for the Fields to search in drop-down list.
• Administrators can define the default settings by logging on to the Desktop Client. Click the "Reset to default" button on the "Search" tab to restore the original default settings (defined automatically after the first installation).

Entries in the Fields to search in drop-down list

This list displays fields which are displayed in the Fields to search in drop-down list of the Search window. For each data record type you can set fields and combinations of fields.

  The New and Change buttons open the Selection of fields for the search window.

Delete deletes an entry in the list.

 Using the Up and Down buttons, changes the order of the highlighted entries in the list.

In the Fields to search in drop-down list in the Search window, the search fields are subsequently displayed in the order you set here.
