Transferring appointment invitations to CAS genesisWorld

You can also accept or decline invitations to appointments connected with CAS genesisWorld in Microsoft Outlook. The prerequisites for this are:

The CAS genesisWorld Desktop Client does not have to be installed.

The import of iCal files that include a recurrence is not supported by CAS genesisWorld. If an iCal file containing an appointment series is exported from CAS genesisWorld, only the one selected appointment is exported to the iCal file. If you import a series, for example, from Microsoft Outlook to CAS genesisWorld, a hint is displayed. You will receive such a tip when accepting or declining a recurrence tentatively with the add-in for Microsoft Outlook, because in this case too, the iCal file cannot be transferred to CAS genesisWorld.

Invitation management in Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook has its own invitation management feature.

If you use the Microsoft Outlook functions, appointments are only managed in the Microsoft Outlook calendar and are deleted from the e-mail inbox. Any settings you make in the Microsoft Outlook calendar will not have any effect on appointments in CAS genesisWorld.

If you also wish to enter an appointment from CAS genesisWorld into the Microsoft Outlook calendar, then you can use the Microsoft Outlook invitation functionality. In this case, however, the invitation is also deleted from your inbox. Afterward, the functions for transferring invitations to CAS genesisWorld are no longer available.

Therefore, you should use the Outlook Add-In functions to manage appointments in CAS genesisWorld.

Functions in Microsoft Outlook for CAS genesisWorld

In Microsoft Outlook the following functions are available for CAS genesisWorld appointments when using the CAS Outlook Add-In: Accept, Tentatively and Decline.

If you use these CAS Outlook Add-In functions, then the appointment will not be deleted from the inbox after accepting or declining the invitation.

The appointment is not transferred to the Microsoft Outlook calendar, but is transferred to CAS genesisWorld and changed with each function that you might select, for example, Accept, Tentatively and Decline.

Using Accept you can accept the appointment. Subsequently, the appointment is entered into your CAS genesisWorld calendar and the organizer will receive a message via e-mail.

You can always decline an appointment later which have already accepted if you cannot attend for whatever reason. The organizer will then receive your cancellation by e-mail and the appointment will be deleted from your calendar.

Using Decline you can decline appointments. The appointment is not entered into your calendar and the organizer will receive your cancellation by e-mail.

You can always accept an appointment via e-mail despite having already declined, however, once you decline you will not receive any updates for this appointment. Thus, the appointment information you have, could well already be outdated.

Select Tentatively if you are not sure whether you can attend this appointment. The appointment will be entered into your calender and you name will appear in the participants field, but with a question mark after it indicating your tentative status. The organizer will also receive an e-mail notification.

If you respond to an appointment tentatively, you can still accept or decline the appointment later. Whichever way you decide, the organizer is sent an e-mail message with the relevant information.
