Data saved in CAS genesisWorld is displayed in Views.
A view is a collection of characteristics such as, filters, ranking and sorting of fields in columns and so on: this defines what data is used from the database and how it is displayed.
There is a key difference between how data records are displayed, as a collection of characteristics and the data records themselves. The two are independent of each other, thus, for example, when you delete a view, only the collection of characteristics is deleted and not the data records. The data records displayed in the view are still stored in the database.
You can only create or change views if you have been granted the necessary rights for navigators from your administrator. Additionally, you will need rights for view formats.
You can see views in the Navigator on the left-hand side of the program window.
Different views are available for the different data record types. It could be that there is more than one view for a single data record type, for example, you can select a calendar or list view for appointments.
If you use CAS genesisWorld modules, then you may well have additional special views at your disposal. These views are described in more detail in the respective modules.
Each view always displays current data, because when you open the view, the system retrieves the data directly from the database. For example, you will be able to view any changes made by your co-workers to addresses or to tasks in ongoing projects and you will be to view any data records and fields that have been created since the last time you opened the view.
In a view, you will see all the data records to which you have rights.
To refresh a view which has been open for a while, go to the View menu in the program window and click Refresh.
The different properties that determine a view are defined when you create the view itself, and you can view each of them separately as view Properties even if you do not have rights to navigators or view formats. With sufficient rights, you can change the properties after creating the view.
To do this, mark the view and in the View menu of the program window, click Properties.
Specific attributes are available for each view in the form of Properties, these are described in more detail for each respective view. Some properties are comparable for each view.
You create new views with the View Wizard. The following steps are the same for every view.
This information may also help you when you are creating a view or changing it from time to time.
Colleagues who do not have rights to create and edit view can inform themselves about the view.
The settings on the pages in the View Wizard and on the tabs in the Properties window for a previously created view are always the same and independent of the view type.
