In CAS genesisWorld you use the Import/Export wizard to import or export data. When exporting, data records that belong to a particular data record type are written to an external table. When importing, data records from an external table are imported to a CAS genesisWorld data record type.
The administrator has to assign you the corresponding rights for import/export.
Import/export is possible as .txt file as well as with OLEDB.
ADO 2.8 must be installed on your computer for OLEDB.
Unicode files or files with Unicode fields cannot be imported. This is prevented by a limitation of the ODBC driver. You can, however, export Unicode.
When exporting; you can choose ANSI, Unicode or UTF8 as the output format. The default is ANSI.
The importing user is added automatically as a data record participant.
When importing addresses, you can execute a duplicate check with existing addresses in CAS genesisWorld.
The following example will show you how to import addresses.
Before exporting data from CAS genesisWorld a window - depending on the administrator's settings - opens in which you have to enter your password for CAS genesisWorld. This query has been implemented to ensure that your data in CAS genesisWorld is secure.
The entering of your password is also required if you have already opened CAS genesisWorld and you are logged in. The password you need to enter must be your CAS genesisWorld password, even if you otherwise log on with your CAS genesisWorld Windows user account.
You define the CAS genesisWorld password in the Settings window, in the General tab.
This is how you open the import \ export wizard:
This menu is only displayed if you have been granted the necessary permissions from your administrator.
Do not define a filter on the Table allocation page of the Wizard.
The window will open immediately if you open the wizard from a list view or after a search.
Using this you can export the marked data records or import data for the respective data record type.
In the window title you will see the data record type displayed for which you are currently exporting or importing.
