Dashboard - Company dashboard
Three different types of dashboards are available in CAS genesisWorld:
- A dashboard as the first view in the navigator pane. This is the default dashboard.
- Company dashboards that users with certain rights can individually create and configure like any other navigator view. Company dashboards can be inserted at any location in the navigator and display a subset of all CAS genesisWorld data.
Company dashboards can contain
Important data for the sales department, with addresses, certain links, team calendar, and so on.
A view showing the current status in the support department, with the latest service reports, complaints, tasks completed today and so on.
A display of the secretary office with appointments of all board members, upcoming internal meetings, unanswered requests, pending calls, and so on.
- Data record dashboards are displayed in a separate tab of data records and differ from company dashboards: Company dashboards always include data from the entire database. Data record dashboards, on the other hand, display data and links of that particular data record.
All dashboards contain so-called elements that display specific data or offer certain functions.
Different elements can be displayed, hidden, created, changed, and so on. Elements always display data of a certain dashboard. It is therefore not possible to import or export a data record dashboard element to or from a company dashboard or vice versa.
Both company dashboards and data record dashboards can be made available by the administrator.
Creating a new company dashboard
- You create new views using the View Wizard.
- Go to the view wizard and select Dashboard in the first window.
- Now click Next and enter a name for the view. The name of the selected view is entered by default and can be overwritten.
- Click Finish to exit. The new view is now created.
The new view is displayed by clicking Customize dashboard.
- Define the layout and select the desired elements in Content or create new elements.
- Click Apply to display the new company dashboard.
Change dashboard
Add new element opens a wizard showing two areas.
- The Display existing element area contains a list with all existing elements that you can select and display.
- The Create new element from template section contains a list from which you can select templates for new elements. An element may contain CAS genesisWorld data records, links or Web contents.
You can change the view with the Settings drop-down list.
- Customize dashboard switches the window and you can edit the element.
- Refresh updates all displayed data. The user is informed about the last refresh.
- Import element opens the respective browser window. You import an element in PORTLET file format. The Export element button is found in the Settings drop-down list of the element.
Element functions
The functions in the Settings drop-down list allow you to change elements. The functions available depend on the type of element.
More opens a view. This view displays all data records for the data record type that has been set in the corresponding dashboard element.
- Customize opens the wizard. You can change the element's settings.
- Hide element removes the element.
To display the element again, click the Insert new element icon. Then select an element in the Display existing element area. And finally, click Display element.
To move an element to a different position on the dashboard simply drag and drop it. The new arrangement is saved automatically.
- Export element opens the respective browser window. You export an element in PORTLET file format. The Import element button is found in the Settings drop-down list of the dashboard.
- Delete element deletes the element.
