Country and postal address
The Country field influences the form of address, salutation and postal address for correspondence. A separate Country field exists for the company, delivery and private postal addresses.
- When creating a data record address, you will normally see a predefined value entered in the Country field. You can change this value yourself if necessary.
The predefined value in the Country field, is adopted from the setting for the Country (default) field.
The Country (default) field value can be defined by your administrator in the Management Console or, if you have sufficient rights, you can define it yourself in the Desktop Client.
The value entered in the Country field has a number of consequences:
- The setting for Country (default) determines the sender's country for all users.
- When using the Address rows 1-7 as a mail merge field in your correspondence, the matching postal address is created according to 2 criteria: Included are the Country field of the address data record and the sender's country from the Country (default) setting.
- If the Country field in the data record does not contain a value, then the default value for Country (default) is also used for the recipient's postal address.
- If addresses from several countries are displayed in one single list, several fields contain different field values.
- Likewise when printing labels, the correct postal address format is determined by the Country field.
