Editing mode for components

In the Portal Management area, select the desired item in the navigator, and then click Edit page in the display area.

When a page is in editing mode, you can define its functionality. The names of the portal, components and pages are displayed in the status bar at the bottom.

Under Elements you will see all the elements you can add to this page.

In the lower pane, under Data fields, you see the data fields that can be inserted if a database integration with, for example, a form or a list exists.

A Preview is only available while the Web server the portal is installed on is running.

The area on the right shows the page's elements and their arrangement.

Toolbar buttons

 Back closes the editing mode.

 Save saves the changes you have made to the component.

 Preview shows you what the component will look like to the user. The page is opened in the portal. You can therefore only view a preview of the component while the Web server the portal is installed on is running.

Before the preview is displayed, the page is saved and you will be asked to log on to the portal. If, however, you have not been given access to this page, you will not be able to see it. Pages do not have to be activated. Even deactivated pages are displayed.

Moving elements Use these arrows to move the selected element up, down, left or right. You can also move elements by dragging them to the desired position. If a small box is displayed on the border of an element, this means you can also change the size of the element by clicking and dragging the border.

 Adjust element opens the Properties window in which you can define the selected element's settings.

 Delete click this button and a confirmation prompt will open asking whether you want to delete the selected element.

 Show help lines shows help lines so that the size of each element is easier to see.
