If you click or select a folder, component or page in the navigator, a description of it will appear in the display area together with the functions. The buttons with the toolbar functions will also appear.

In the Portal management module, select the branch of the navigator with the name of the portal.

Editing descriptions

The display area contains a description of the component or page you have selected. You can modify this description at any time.

Portal settings

If you want to use this function, activate the option in the Portal management area. Furthermore, you must use this authentication in the Properties window for users in the User management area.

Change access

You can grant users access to the whole portal, to each component and each page. In so doing, you can specify which users are allowed to view the portal and individual components and pages. For example, you can allow only certain users to book resources, such as a meeting room.

Click this link and the "Change access" window opens. If a component or a page has been set to public, then all users will have access to it. You can apply (inherit) the users from the parent element or select new ones.

Language support

CAS genesisWorld and the portal are available in those languages for which the language versions were installed.

If users work with one of the standard languages and the respective option is activated, the portal is displayed in this language.

Please note that all namings of the pages have to be in the respective language. For new components or pages in the portal, use the Translate function.

If a language that is not supported is set in the browser, the portal is displayed in the language which is set as default.

When logging on to the portal, a drop-down list with the available languages will be displayed.

Changing the default user

You can select a particular user as the default user for a portal. Users can then use this portal without having to log on themselves. If a user does not log on, then the default user's rights apply.

The select link opens the corresponding window. Select a user that you have created in the User management area. This user and his or her rights will then be transferred to the default user.

If the Allow access without logon option is selected, the portal opens without showing the logon page. Instead, you can enter a text using the Change salutation text link; CAS genesisWorld then opens immediately with the start page. The salutation text is displayed on top of the page. User name and password fields are displayed in the navigator so that the user can log on.

Backing up and restoring portals

Click Save portal to back up the complete portal. Define the directoray in which you want to store this file.

Click Restore portal to restore the portal.

Editing pages

This link switches the displayed page to edit mode.

Default component

If you use the same components in a portal more than once, then you can select one of them as the default component. Links from other pages will then be automatically directed to the default component.

The default component for a data record type is also used for the search if several components are used. You can define this setting in the Display area.

Example
The "Calendar" component is used in different areas of a portal. A link on an employee's page takes you to the employee's calendar. If you now set one of the calendar components as the default component, this link will then always take you to the calendar of the default component.

Editing tips

On each page, you as the administrator can add tips and useful notes for users, for example, instructions on how to fill out a form or tips for a request. Click the Edit link to switch to editing mode so you can write and format your text. You can change the tip's background color in the Display area. Tips can be activated or deactivated. To display tips, select the "Display tips in portal" option for this portal.

Drag and drop

You can move items around in the Portal management area's navigator by dragging and dropping them.

Limiting the number of parallel requests per session

You can limit the number of requests a user is allowed to make in one session. The user will receive an error message until these requests have been processed. The default limit is set to 20 requests. You can change this value in the ParallelRequestPerSession field of the Portal.xml file.
