Addresses can be imported with both the Desktop Client and the Management Console. The only difference is whether one address or more than one address is imported.
You can only import addresses and access the required functions of you have been assigned the necessary rights by the administrator.
You can import addresses individually as vCards.
The Address Wizard is available in the program window for e-mails. With this you can record lost of data for addresses almost automatically.
If you have sufficient rights, you can use the Import/Export wizard to import or export data and addresses.
The wizard is available in the Desktop client and the Management Console.
When importing data, the Import/Export wizard can help checking duplicates. This function can be set by the administrator in the Management Console.
In principle, there are a number of different ways to import. The easiest method is to use CSV files as shown here.
If you want to import a large number of data records, we recommend that you first import two or three data records. This way you can define and save all the settings, and then test whether they are correct. Deleting a large number of data records takes a long time.
If you import addresses using the Import/Export Wizard, you can perform a duplicate check using available addresses in CAS genesisWorld.
The same settings and rights apply to the duplicate check when importing addresses as for the duplicate check when saving addresses.
Your administrator defines whether or not a duplicate check runs when importing addresses using the duplicate check settings.
To work with the duplicate check feature during import, the fields checked by the duplicate check must also be imported. Your administrator determines which fields are included in the duplicate check.
Please contact your administrator if necessary.
After importing addresses, you receive a message if duplicates were found.
If the importing users have been granted the necessary rights, then duplicates can be merged directly after import.
If the importing users have not been granted the necessary rights, then authorized users can merge duplicates after importing them into the CAS genesisWorld Desktop Client.
On the lower pane of the window, the List of addresses marked above where duplicates have been identified is displayed.
If you click on Exclude, the addresses selected at the top and bottom of the window are excluded in pairs from the duplicate check. The corresponding addresses will in future no longer be flagged as mutual duplicates.
Addresses which can no longer be flagged as mutual duplicates can still be flagged as duplicates of other addresses.
Addresses which have been excluded from the duplicate check for certain specific addresses can be included again manually.
If you click Merge, the field values of the identified duplicate addresses are merged. The duplicates are merged automatically if the addresses can be combined without any loss of information. If the addresses can be combined without any loss of information, then in the Merge duplicates window you can set manually which field is adopted and the data record you wish to take it from. You will find more information on the functions in the Merge duplicates window on the Merge duplicates when saving page.
When merging address field values via merge duplicates, the data record links are always combined automatically.
Duplicates are only merged automatically if the addresses involved can be combined without any loss of information. If duplicates cannot be merged without a loss of information, then you will have to merge them manually after automatic merging is finished.
